Adobe Creative Cloud - Certifications

Are the Adobe ACP Certifications recognized by the state of Indiana as a Graduation Pathway?

Yes.  The Adobe Certified Associate certifications are part of the Indiana List of Promoted Industry Certifications and are part of the Graduation Pathways Qualifier.

For a student to earn the graduation pathways qualifier, the student must pass 2 of the ACP exams that qualifies the user for the ACP Specialist Certificate in Visual Design, Web Design, or Video Design.

Indiana’s List of Promoted Industry Certifications is a list of certifications that have undergone a rigorous process for inclusion and promotion in the state. To be included on the list, a certification must be both recognized and valued by industry, must have transference to post-secondary training programs and must lead to quality employment. Certifications will be reviewed annually to ensure that the list remains relevant to current industry needs.

Which applications are tested on the ACP Exams and which exams need to be passed to earn a Specialist certificate to qualify for Graduation Pathways?

The exams are based on the 2021 version of Creative Cloud.  If a student passes 2 exams in the following areas, the student will also earn a Specialist certificate and qualify for the Indiana Graduation Pathway.

  • Adobe Certified Professional Visual Design Specialist (PASS 2 EXAMS)
    • Visual Communication using Adobe Photoshop (REQUIRED)
    • Graphic Design & Illustration using Adobe Illustrator
    • Print & Digital Media Publication using Adobe InDesign
  • Adobe Certified Associate Web Design Specialist (PASS 2 EXAMS)
    • Web Authoring using Adobe Dreamweaver (REQUIRED)
    • Interactive Media using Adobe Animate
    • Visual Communication using Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Certified Associate Video Design Specialist (PASS 2 EXAMS)
    • Digital Video using Adobe Premiere Pro (REQUIRED)
    • Visual Effects & Motion Graphics using Adobe After Effects
    • Visual Communication using Adobe Photoshop

Why was the ACP certificate created?

The workplace demand for digital media skills—creating, managing, integrating, and communicating information by using Adobe’s video, graphic, web, illustration, or design software—is on the rise. The ACA certification program will help educators effectively teach and validate digital communication skills while providing students with credentials that demonstrate real-world prowess to prospective employers and academic institutions.

What are the benefits of becoming ACP certified?

When someone becomes ACP certified, it validates their technical abilities and demonstrates proficiency. ACP certifications are based on research about digital communication skills required by industry, government, and education. The scenario-based exams validate the expertise required for success in today’s digital world.

Industry-recognized certification programs ensure students and teachers are acquiring the knowledge and abilities valued in today’s workplace. For institutions seeking to keep curriculum vitalized and relevant, certification plays a critical role in bridging classroom learning to real world application.

How is an ACP certification earned?

To earn an Adobe certification, an individual must pass a rigorous examination administered in one of the EVSC high schools.  All Adobe exams are created with input from Adobe subject-matter experts and are psychometrically validated. The scenario-based questions provide real-world context for students. Each Adobe certification exam corresponds to a particular Adobe application used for digital media communication and represents a single certification.

You can also earn an Adobe Certified Professional Specialist certificate which is awarded when an individual earns 2 qualifying Adobe Certified Professional certifications in Adobe Creative Cloud.

For more information, please contact Jerrad Gleim in the Office of Technology.

The ACP CC exams use the following question types:

  • Working live in the Adobe application to complete tasks and answer questions.
  • Rich-selected item types including multiple choice, drag and drop, hot spots, and drop downs.

How can I prepare myself and/or my students for taking the ACP exams?

Learning objectives for the current ACA exams are listed on Adobe’s website: http://edex.adobe.com/aca/objectives.

Students and Teachers can also take GMetrix practice exams prior to taking their ACP exam.  Here’s How to Enroll Students into GMetrix.

Please contact Jerrad Gleim in the Office of Technology to learn more and to find out how to gain access to the practice exams.

How do I register or get my students registered to take an ACP exam?

Contact Jerrad Gleim in the Office of Technology.

What happens when I pass an ACP exam?

As soon as you pass an Adobe exam, your name and exam results are given to Adobe by Certiport. Your exam data is then entered into a database. You have access to view and print your official certificate or to download the certification logo highlighting your accomplishment by logging onto www.certiport.com.

You can also claim your digital certification badge at https://www.credly.com/users/sign_in/a>.

Do ACP certifications expire?

Creative Cloud-based ACP certifications are valid for three years after date of issue.

What is the ACP Specialist certificate?

The ACP Specialist is a certificate awarded to individuals who have earned three qualifying Adobe certifications in Adobe Creative Cloud.

The ACP Specialist is not a certification. It is a valuable credential that validates one’s skills and knowledge in select categories of Adobe digital media software applications. It does not require an additional exam. When an individual earns three qualifying Adobe certifications, that individual will be awarded an Adobe Certified Professional Specialist certificate for a select digital-media category.

What is the value of the ACP Specialist credential?

Digital-media projects often require cross-platform expertise in more than one Adobe application. For example, a project that requires Adobe Photoshop may also require Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign to bring it to completion. Someone that possesses multiple-areas of expertise has an advantage over their peers that do not.

Who should consider getting the ACP Specialist certificate?

The ACP Specialist is for anyone with an interest in Adobe digital-media applications. Often, these are students or employees working to advance their Adobe skills and may be looking for an effective way to validate those skills. ACP Specialist is a powerful credential to include on a resume, college or job application or a design portfolio. It is also an excellent professional development opportunity for teachers, instructors and academic administrators.
