If you manage a Google Classroom that has more than one teacher registered to a course AND you find that you are not the owner of your Classroom Meet Recordings, it may be because Google assigned the ownership to recordings to a different teacher.
How Can This Happen?
Google assigns ownership to Classroom Meet recordings based on the first person who uses the Classroom Meet link.
To fix the issue, you will need to generate a new Meet link in Classroom AND be the first person to use the new link.
How to Create a New Meet Link in Google Classroom
1). Go to your Google Classroom Settings.
2). Scroll down the Settings page to the Manage Meet link section.
3). Click the Meet link and select Reset.
4). In the prompt window, click the Reset button to reset the link.
5). Close the Classroom Settings page.
Start Google Meet using the New Link
1). From the front page of your Google Classroom, click the Join button to start Google Meet.
2). Now that you were the first to join the Google Meet, you will now be the owner of any future recordings.
- Test it out! Go ahead and do a recording for a minute or so and then close the meeting.
- You will receive an email with the recording link when the video is ready.
- You can also find the recording in your Google Drive at My Drive > Meet Recordings folder.
