Dual Employees will receive an email regarding open enrollment and whether they are considered the primary spouse (the one who carries the insurance) or the secondary spouse (who cannot elect the core coverage). Only the primary spouse will be able to see and make changes to the medical, dental, and vision insurance. Here are a few things to keep in mind if you are a dual spouse:
- The primary spouse will have to carry all coverage for medical, dental and vision. You can still keep your life, LTD (if applicable) and any of the American Fidelity coverage you have separately.
- You will still both need to complete the enrollment so that your coverage remains active but only the primary spouse will be able to elect medical, dental and vision coverage.
- If you plan to change which spouse carries the medical, dental and vision coverage, please contact the Benefits department ASAP in order to make the change. If you decide to switch the primary spouse during the open enrollment period, you will need to contact the EVSC Benefits Department prior to making your elections.
- Everyone needs to complete the Open Enrollment/Section 125 process this year. If you sign up for assistance with your enrollment please be sure to let the representative know that you are a dual employee if you want to meet together so there is enough time for the rep to walk you both through your elections. You can also select back-to-back appointments and let me know so they schedule you with the same rep.
Please contact the Benefits department if you have any questions.
